Bridgetown Agricultural Show

The Bridgetown Show

The Annual Bridgetown Show is held on the fourth Saturday in November and is organized by a volunteer community group. All funds raised are directed toward improving the grounds and running the Annual Show.

The first show was held on December 10, 1885, on the then new showgrounds in Steere Street, Bridgetown, under the name of the Central Southern Districts Agricultural Society. In 1895, the name was changed to the Nelson District Agricultural Society, and in 1905 the event moved to its current location on Peninsula Road. The last Nelson Show took place in 1916, after which the event was rebranded as the Bridgetown Agricultural Show.

Combining traditional and modern elements, the event emphasizes family values and fosters a sense of community by bringing people together to share knowledge and experiences.
